Special Notice from CGI Guns & Training Regarding Ammunition for Training Courses

CGI Guns & Training realizes and is sympathetic to the impact and hardship caused by the current ammunition shortage.  Therefore, CGI is temporarily allowing the use of .22 rimfire and other economical ammunition (e.g., wadcutters, reduced-power target loads, etc.) for many of its training courses.

It is recommended, and for some courses required, that you complete at least 20% of the range exercises -- and any applicable qualification shooting -- with your center-fire firearm.

  • Learn home protection strategies and tactics

Our Training Philosophy

CGI Guns & Training's instructors are well versed in a myriad of shooting techniques and training methods. We understand that there is no “one-size-fits-all” technique.

During our training careers, we have had our fill of schools and instructors who insisted on dogmatic regimens and techniques ... usually just because it was their favored technique or the only one they were capable of performing!

At CGI, our training philosophy is to utilize whatever techniques work for each individual student. We understand that every student is unique. The variation of body size, shape, physical ability, personality, demeanor and individual training goals are just some of the factors that must be taken into consideration when training.

We believe shooting is a skill that just about anyone can master. To the degree that one is able to master shooting is dependent upon the motivation of the individual and the amount of practice they wish to invest. Shooting -- whether for self defense, competition or pure recreation -- is no different than any other sport or hobby. Just like golf, painting or gardening ... what you will get out of it is determined primarily by what you put into it!

Advanced Home Defense 460 - Home Invasion & Force-on-Force

Home invasion is the ultimate test of your skills.  You and your family will be put through simulated attacks in your own home using non-lethal training arms, going up against a team of CGI Instructors.  This course begins with an onsite visit, training and planning session.  The in-home training/planning session is followed up with a series of simulated "attacks" in your home.  To add realism, these scenarios usually begin a little before dark, and continue into full dark night. These simulations are highly controlled to maximize training, and minimize the potential for damage or injury.

A senior CGI instructor is with you the entire time to act as a "field judge/observer" while other members of the staff play "bad guy".  After each "encounter" there is a full debrief and evaluation.
